I’ve been trying to get some new things going in my life which I will hopefully share at some point in a future post.
But trying to make change can get really hard. And as much as I want it, sometimes the obstacles feel insurmountable.
I was in a major funk last week and it just wasn’t getting better, even over a few days. I decided I needed to get out of my head so I started scrolling through my list of podcasts.
One of my favorites is You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes. I went back through the guests and found two I wanted to listen to.
They helped me get out of my head for a while and gain some perspective by hearing someone else’s story. It also gave me a little boost of motivation to keep pushing forward so I thought I would share.
The first is with Chris Hardwick who was on MTV with Jenny McCarthy back in the day and then spent many years struggling in his career and in life until he got sober, lost a bunch of weight and started the Nerdist empire. Just a really down to earth and genuine guy who really loves people and especially other comics.
The second one is with Jon Hamm who was in Hollywood for THREE YEARS before he got an acting job. And he is really insightful and well-read and I totally enjoyed his perspective.
So if you need something to get you through a funk, too, take a listen.
What do you do to get out of a funk? Or do you have any podcasts you love that get you through the day?
